Dr Bill Robinson established Karingal Veterinary Hospital at 210 Karingal Drive and operated from this converted display home until 1995. In that year the Hospital was purchased by Dr Scott Tinson with the objective of developing one of the premier veterinary hospitals in Australia. Realising the original facility could not grow and provide the necessary level of services and equipment for the future, a vacant block of land on the corner of Cranbourne Road and Karingal Drive was purchased from the City of Frankston in 1997. Work started on the all new Karingal Veterinary Hospital in early 2000 and the new hospital opened its doors on the 16th September 2000.
On the 7th October 2000 the new Karingal Veterinary Hospital was officially opened at an invitation-only gala event. With all the practice staff present, along with many family, friends and of course long standing loyal clients the ribbon-cutting service was held with great excitement. Four lucky clients were drawn from a hat to cut ribbons on the doors of each of the consulting rooms. This symbolic gesture started the new chapter in Karingal Veterinary Hospital’s history.
Sunday March 25th 2001 saw several thousand people visit Karingal Veterinary Hospital for its Open Day. With displays on all aspects of veterinary care, product giveaways, wildlife demonstrations and of course the obligatory sausage sizzle the day was a huge success.
In 2002 Karingal Veterinary Hospital achieved Dr Scott Tinson’s goal of developing into one of the premier veterinary hospitals in Australia by becoming one of only 41 veterinary hospitals in the country to be recognised as an Australian Small Animal Veterinary Association Hospital of Excellence. This award is obtained by demonstrating the highest levels of quality health care and practice management. It requires the hospital to be reaccredited every 3-4 years through independent auditing of the veterinary facilities, standards of care, equipment, continuing education and other important areas. Karingal Veterinary Hospital has been successfully reaccredited at every review and remains the only accredited veterinary hospital on the Mornington Peninsula.
The awards kept coming in 2003 with Karingal Veterinary Hospital winning the prestigious Australian Veterinary Association’s “Hospital of Excellence in Customer Service” Award. This award recognises veterinary practices that deliver outstanding service to their clients and it is one of Karingal Veterinary Hospital’s proudest achievements.
2003 saw Karingal Veterinary Hospital also awarded the Leader Newspaper Frankston Small Business Award.
In 2012 Dr Dr Shane Simpson joined Dr Scott Tinson as a partner in the practice.
In November 2021 Dr Tinson left the Hospital with Dr Rob Graham and Michelle Graham coming onboard as practice owners with Dr Simpson.
Today Karingal Veterinary Hospital continues to provide the pet owners of Frankston and the surrounding areas with world class veterinary care.
